Students at La Petite Cuisine learn the fundamentals of cooking and food literacy as they create a variety of recipes that are healthy, delicious and fun to prepare.
Topics incorporated into the curriculum include safety, cleanliness and multicultural awareness.
Skills acquired during classes: math, language skills, motor development and refinement, self-esteem, organizational and creative/artistic.
At La petite Cuisine we use child-size equipment, the students learn to pour, stir, spread, use a whisk, a grater and juicer. The majority of ingredients used for the recipes are all natural or organic.
Some of the food prepared in past classes include: breads, sandwiches, soups, salads, flatbread pizzas and fresh lemonade.
We Integrate songs and stories relevant to that day's recipe to help stimulate student interest.
The school is for children ages 3-6.
Classes start April 19th and meet once per week on Saturdays.
